Hook Framework
Draws authority and relatability from real personal experience — lessons learned the hard way that no textbook could teach.
Why it works
Experience-based hooks leverage the fact that firsthand knowledge carries more weight than secondhand advice. When you lead with 'I made this mistake so you don't have to,' you're offering the reader a shortcut — they get the lesson without paying the tuition. These hooks work because they combine authority (you lived it) with vulnerability (you're honest about the struggle), which is a rare and compelling combination. The reader thinks, 'This person has actually been in the trenches.'
When to use
Use experience-based hooks when you have hard-won lessons that contradict common advice, when building a personal brand rooted in authenticity, or when your unique journey is the differentiator. They work best on LinkedIn and Twitter where personal narrative is the dominant content format.
